Ultra-low energy buildings have been successfully implemented in northern China for over a decade, where rich engineering experience accumulated. With the gradual implementation of the “carbon peaking and carbon neutrality” goals in urban and rural construction sector, ultra-low energy buildings in hot summer and warm winter zone are attracting increasing attention. The indoor and outdoor temperature difference in hot summer and warm winter zone is relatively smaller throughout the year comparing to severe cold zone and cold zone. In summer, it is hot and humid. Implementing ultra-low energy buildings should focus on insulation, shading, dehumidification, and prevention of condensation and mildew. Starting from solving practical problems, key technologies of ultra-low energy buildings in hot summer and warm winter zone are investigated. Taking an experimental model room project in Shantou as an example, the solutions to the problems existing in the actual project in this climate zone are proposed, which can provide a reference for the implementation of ultra-low energy building projects in this climate zone.
